First Responders & Military
For over 20 years, I have been providing trauma counselling and psychotherapy to police officers, firefighters, corrections officers, paramedics, military personnel, nurses, doctors, lawyers, social workers and others whose work brings them into contact with trauma and the suffering of others.
First responders have the same stressors and difficulties in life as anyone, plus the added challenges of work that exposes them to trauma, which can negatively impact their physical and psychological health and well-being. Often, these impacts extend to their families and relationships.
Thankfully, research shows that those who seek counselling find it helpful and effective. This is of added importance for first responders. Being proactive to seek counselling early on can help minimize distress and keep you healthy and strong.
