Having myself served 23 years as a police officer in the RCMP I have first hand and personal experience in dealing with trauma, violence, and human suffering.
My psychology experience with the military has included working with soldiers and veterans from ages 16 – 88, who have been involved in conflicts from WWII and Vietnam through to East Timor, Egypt, Cyprus, Bosnia, Iraq, and Afghanistan. I have worked with male and female soldiers from all branches of the Canadian military, and from other militaries including the U.S., China, Germany, France, and South Africa.
I offer both individual counselling and crisis intervention such as Critical Incident Stress Debriefings and Defusings. Through the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress I am Certified in Acute Traumatic Stress Management, and I am a Board Certified Expert in Traumatic Stress.
I have done a great deal of training work with police departments and emergency services in the area of trauma, resilience, Critical Incident Stress Management, conflict resolution, and emotional intelligence.
